3.1 Macbeth

This picture is a cartoon of the three witches that tell Macbeth his prophecies. This image is taken in the futuristic Japanese city wasteland appeal. One of the many symbols is for one the complexion on the three. Since many think of witches as ugly females who sometimes are old, we seen the artist show then in reptilian form which is a symbol in it's self going to Adam and Eve with the snake which represents some form of evil and not being trusted. Note that they are also wearing kimonos which in Japanese tradition are worm in special ceremonials, also the fact that their hands are glowing may state that they are about to start some kind of special ritual. Witches are also suppose to live in a distance and isolated place and in this case they are in a city ruin with dead samurai bodies which they might use to as past spirits for their rituals. The archetype of the witch is that they have the "knowledge of the universal laws of nature, the conscious mind and esoteric powers to manifest their desires." Which is true in Macbeth they have the power of nature in talking to spirits in order to prophesy from Macbeth. They also are The Outcast for living in a isolated place and for not socializing with anyone but the spirits and themselves and who ever ask for a audience. They also can be Outcast because of their looks because they would scare the villagers and children.

  1. I LOVE THIS! I love your vocabulary and I completely agree with everything that you said. The image you chose threw me off a bit until I read your commentary and interpretations. Deep.

  2. I really enjoyed your take on the three witches. It is quite unique to see them portrayed this way and I like your out of the box thinking. Very nicely done.
